Ireland still hasn't fixed its broken banking system
About the only piece of good news to be drawn from €24bn of additional capital the Irish government is having to inject into the country’s beleaguered banking system is that it is rather less than the €35bn the joint EU/IMF rescue package for Ireland originally envisaged for the purpose. After applying the latest set of European stress tests, things have turned out to be not quite as bad as feared.
